Peter Alexei

Author of the San Francisco Fable Series

Having spent a lifetime working in the theatre, and living in San Francisco for most of my career, I have taken my experiences and woven them into a sequence of stories encompassing the amazing characters I have met both in dramatic literature and in real life.

A graduate of Stanford University and the Yale School of Drama, I now live in Seattle with my wife and a crazy cat.  With THE QUEEN OF SPADES, I have taken the characters I created in THE MASKED AVENGER to darker places, enjoying watching them grow and change before my very eyes. With THE ROBBER BARONS, I have brought them to the next stage of their lives, through the most complex series of mysteries they have yet to solve.

Authors I admire and have been influenced by include Anton Chekhov, John LeCarré, PD James, Mikhail Bulgakov, Paco Ignacio Taibo II, Carlos Ruiz Zafon, John Dickson Carr, Agatha Christie, Arturo Peréz-Reverte, Armistead Maupin, Philip Kerr, the amazing women who wrote the Nancy Drew books under the pseudonym Carolyn Keene, William Shakespeare and, of course, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, whose Hound of the Baskervilles, read on a dark and stormy night in Russia when I was nine, set me on the path I am today.

Praise for The Masked Avenger:

"[Peter Alexei] knows a lot about tension, mystery, and adventure. Set in San Francisco, this story spices its dark plot with some humor, but the demons that possess the Avenger give the character credibility. Alexei makes the clever plot work in this unusual thriller."

Reviews

“…a completely satisfying tale. It was engaging from the very first page all the way until the end. This is the book people are talking about when they say they want to snuggle up with a book in front of the fire.”
